Black - Brent Carmichael

Producer - Noah M. Dorsey and Jordan Powers

Director - Jordan Powers

Black by Brent Carmichael was written and inspired by the need for more compassion in our society. Beneath the surface of a worldwide pandemic with orders of isolation was a social and cultural issue that needed to be addressed. This song and video remind us that if we work together if we have more empathy, we have the potential to create a better future - together. We have seen the darkness the past has led us to, and we hope that the message in Black can help brighten our tomorrow.

Although the concept for this video was simple, it took some time to execute the vision. Brent and the director, Jordan Powers, wanted to approach the topic of this song in a powerful way. The common goal; is to be reminded that history is repeating itself, and to bring in the influence of one of the most powerful decades of movement history. We found the perfect venue (Skinny Dukes, Kelowna, B.C.) to host that vision and bring viewers into that world. Based on that vision and era of the shoot I wanted the lighting to be hard light; a 10-degree barrel on the 750W leko. Once we added some ambient light, and a hair light; we were ready to shoot!
